Graeme Souness has hit out at Manchester United’s youth policy and accused the club of having a “fetish” of bringing youngsters through to the first team.
The 20-time English champions are in the midst of their worst start to a season in 30 years, with the shock loss at Newcastle leaving them just two points above the drop zone.
Liverpool are looking to compound United’s worst start in 30 years on Sunday, when Jurgen Klopp’s men will aim for a record-equalling 18th successive top-flight victory.
And ahead of that clash, Anfield legend Souness alluded to great United teams of the past and believes that their current youngsters will struggle to fulfil their potential at Old Trafford.
