Fans rushed to Twitter to applaud Shirley for speaking out on her struggles with backlash from the show.
One user gushed: “Cheered me right up this morning watching this. Glad the issue is being talked about, it really is getting out of hand. Love you and Daniel together & great to see you so happy, relaxed and to just able to be your fabulous self.”
Another said: “Just stay safe Shirley your man will look after you sorry for the abuse you’re getting.”
“Ignore and block @ShirleyBallas if there talking about you at least they are leaving some poor soul alone! Chin up as always #YourOurFavourite,” a third noted.
Dan definitely seems to be in Shirley’s good books, so maybe he’ll be following in his fellow BBC Breakfast colleague, Mike Bushell’s steps nex year!
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday on BBC One.
